One-Click Google Consent Mode v2 Setup from the Panel
1. Accessing the Design Editor
To access the Google Consent Mode V2 configuration screen:
Log in to your Efilli Panel.
In the left sidebar menu, open the Domain section.
Click the Design Editor button next to the domain you want to configure.
In the design editor screen, click the settings (⚙️) icon at the top right corner.
From the dropdown menu, select Google Consent Mode.
This will open the Google Consent Mode V2 Configuration screen.
2. Google Consent Mode Configuration Screen
This interface allows you to control how Google tags (Analytics, Ads, etc.) behave according to your visitors’ cookie preferences. You can visually configure the integration without any technical setup and manage consent categories directly from the panel.
3. Activating the Integration
At the top of the screen, check the box labeled “Enable Google Consent Mode Integration.”
Once enabled, the system automatically sends the appropriate consent signals through the dataLayer to Google Tag Manager.
No additional coding or manual setup is required.
The integration becomes active immediately in the cookie banner of the selected domain.
4. Category Mapping
Each Google storage category (e.g., ad_storage, analytics_storage, functionality_storage, security_storage, personalization_storage) can be mapped to the corresponding consent categories defined in Efilli:
Required
Functional
Marketing
Analytics
Each mapping clearly shows which cookie purpose it represents. If a category has not yet been linked, it will appear as “Not Configured.”
5. New Data Fields (V2 Support)
Google Consent Mode V2 introduces additional data fields that can also be configured in the panel:
ad_user_data— handles user data related to adsad_personalization— controls personalized ad data processing
These new fields can be visually mapped to the same consent categories.
6. Additional Options
At the bottom of the screen, you’ll find two optional settings:
URL Passthrough: Allows Google tags to pass consent parameters through the URL.
Ads Data Redaction: Ensures ad-related data is anonymized when user consent is not granted.
These options align your setup with Google’s latest data-handling policies.
7. Save and Publish
After completing the mappings and activating the integration:
Click Save to confirm the changes.
The updates will automatically apply to your domain’s cookie banner.
